Temptation

You know, when I was young, I just KNEW that as I got older, living for God was going to be easy-peasy! Temptations wouldn’t be too much of an issue. I’d have everything under control.

I could not have been more wrong.

It seems like in today’s world, or maybe the older I become, the more sophisticated, and covert some temptations have become. We really have to be on guard; we have to pray without ceasing, we have to be able to stand against our adversary who roams about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

Thankfully, we have weapons in our arsenal.

And, no, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God… (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

Thankfully we have the full armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-20)

So while the battle may not be easier, I can definitely say that I’m better equipped for the fight. And I know that I’m not alone!

“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14 KJV

Another tough topic to deal with, my sin of choice was not drugs, alcohol, or money, mines was the opposite sex. And no I wasn’t addicted to the woman because I never desired multiple partners at the same time. (I did step outside my marriage, so maybe the above statement ain’t all true.)The woman was my sin of choice becuz that’s all I knew. I didn’t see the woman as a beautiful creation from God, only an object to be used. I suffered greatly for it over the years, and without the suffering would I have learned the lessons probably not. I said in Sunday School one day that people don’t really want to be wise because when you become wise, it forces you to expose the real you, exposure is hard thing when people believe you to be something else. I leave you with this, if we had no temptations to deal with, what is God’s purpose?
